A Wine From Vinitaly: Tedeschi's Lucchine Valpolicella Classico

Tedeschi Lucchine Valpolicella Classico 2009 DOC
Lively cherry ruby with black reflections and cherry rim. The bouquet is fresh and vinous with lively floral accents and rich berry fruit supported by strawberry and sandalwood mingled with cherry fruit. Youth in a glass. On the palate it's rich and fresh, with lively berry fruit supported by bright berry fruit acidity and by tannins that have a dusky burr and flow into a fairly loing berry fruit finish. A light lark of a wine, which will work nicely with simple grilled meats, or light stews, and will also be a nice accompaniment to meat based pasta dishes or cookouts. In short, versatile, and it will go quite fast. What a basic Valpolicella should be. Worth seeking out.

What to serve it with?

A simple stew along the lines of Adriana's pork and beef stew would be nice, as would quick easy lamb chops scottadito or a tasty risotto of the kind that will keep the residual early spring chill away, for example a risotto all'isolana.
